There will be Cracks
The cracks will be there
Until you need them filled
The light will pour in
The tears will pour out
Breezes clear the smoke
Strangers come in
Stranger go out carry
Some rubble with them on strong shoulders
Maybe they see something of use
Something to use
Some shiny cracked surface mirroring
Their own brokenness
Permanent marks left on the surface
Kindly
Don’t bleed much
Don’t hit many nerves
But change appearances
Until she tires of not recognizing herself
And up she stretches
Shakes off the foreign dust
And begins to mix the mud
She thinks of the warriors
Who have slipped through the cracks
Whose boots have traversed shards
Making her liveable again
Her tears mix with the mud
She adds cement to a gap
Smooths it into pattern
Recognition of its worth yet
